Banana Phone

Everyone in Elkford has the same prefix (865) in their phone numbers, so when you go somewhere people just expect to hear the last 4 digits. That goes for the post office, the video store, making an appointment...so it goes without saying that I do not have an Elkford 4 digit phone number, so its a dead give away that you're an out of towner when you don't give 4 digits, you give 7.

So when you go into the video store the protocol is you give the guy your 4 digit number, naturally I don't fallow that.. so when I start beaking off my phone number and it doesn't start with 865, he stares at you blankly. I just made his day a little harder, he has to pay attention and start all over... delete the 865 and start with 893. Yes sir, I do not have an Elkford phone number, I have a big city phone number consisting of many different prefixes, 727, 479, 744, 477, 889, 383, 382.... nowhere is there an 865.

I love the video store here, every time you go in, its the same East Indian dude... he always has sports blasting on the t.v and he just stands there and stares at you... never have I ever heard him make a full sentence... its usually "Hello" "Phone Number" "Thank You" badda bing badda boom. The selection in there is pretty stellar, he still rents out n64 games, VHS... in fact he sells VHS videos... nothing recent but the fact that it still exists here blows my mind, he also had Blu-Ray and DVD. He opens at 1pm closes at 9pm, prime rental times.

In the past 3 days I have rented 4 movies:

The Box: Totally frustrated that I will never get the 2 hours from my life watching it back. It starts off okay, but then it gets all weird and strange... and you never really quite understand whats going on.

Precious: Unbelievable!, amazing and raw. Its amazing to me that people out there, in this "civilized" world that incest and rape still exist. And the fact that mothers and fathers let this bullshit happen to their children makes me sick to my stomach. All the hype about this movie is real, Oprah Winfrey once again was right about something and there is no doubt in my mind that Monique totally deserved her Oscar.

Up in the Air: Is George Clooney ever in a bad movie?

Paper Heart: Charlyne Yi is the most awkwardest person ever, she is so awkward its cute. Its a documentary about how she doesn't believe in love, so she goes around America interviewing people who have been married for years, divorced, scientists.. everyone. Along the way, she gets introduced to Micheal Cera from a friend and they start dating. I tell you, I totally have a geeky 16 year old girl crush on Micheal Cera, its hard not too...everyone loves a nerd. Anyways, I haven't laughed so hard at a movie until I saw Superbad for the first time. Def didn't regret giving up the 2 hours from my life to watch that.

So there ya go, movie reviews in a nut shell.

Back home my friend Sam and I used to go on photo missions, I've been doing alot of photo missions here (by myself...not the same with out Sam) so soon, I will have more picture postings and all ya'll can see what I see everyday!
