My friend Grant

To my darling five readers,

I went to a party on Friday night, and Keira asked me if I get paid for blogging...rumour has it, I received a grant to do this. No grant, but waisted time with a lot of random things to say! But that go me thinking.... could I get paid for sitting in my underwear and blogging about my random observations? Could I be the next Perez Hilton? minus the gayness and gossip? Who knows?

I mean, that would be a dream job.. never getting dressed again, never doing my hair again and totally looking like I've lost my will to live....ahhhhhhh that would be the liiiiife

Gorilla Recycling

Since I've been house sitting... I've only had a few rules to fallow
#1 Scoop kitty litter
#2 Let dog out in the morning
#3 Recycling day is on Friday

So yesterday, I was sittin' eatin' a bowl of Cheerios and thinking to myself... what have I forgotten? Not 30 seconds later, I was reminded by the huge blue truck down my parents drive way collecting everyone else's blue boxes... and where was mum and dads blue box? why underneath the stairs empty. Shit balls. Rule number three.. forgotten.

Now, in the Koots there is no door to door recycling pick up, thats what the transfer station is for and THAT is why people but their wine bottles in the garbage. My parents, on the other hand are quite militant about recycling... in fact my dad has strict instructions on how to "assemble" the blue box properly. Gotta love 'em... gotta love that they are doing their part.

So that brings us to today, the closet still full of newspapers, cat food cans and plastic containers. Mum and dad come home today. So, I loaded the back of my mums CR-V with all the crap and went on a convert mission. Where can I illegally dump this shit?

Crusin' down Burnside Ave, with my dog as my accomplice and my ipod blasting "Smooth Criminal" I went dumpster shopping. First off, the bottle depot....closed. Second off, Mayfair Mall...but there are cameras and my mother indeed works there....maybe not so good. Third off, Sam's apartment...now, I was going there to begin with to cut her hair, and I did ask her if she had a recycling dumpers... but I didn't want her neighbours seeing me and then bitching to the landlord. With no other choice and my ipod switching to "Bad" I carried on to Sam's house.

I pulled right up.... right up to the dumpers.. I hop out looking all around. No one was on their balconies.. in the clear... so I opened the back hatch and began to chuck all the goods into their respective bins. Then a car pulls up... busted...so I stop what I'm doing and pretend to loiter. Ooooooo! loitering! I'm such a bad-ass!.

The people in the car stare at me for a while, and I figure Fuck it.. its bloody cold and its beginning to rain and continued tossing everything. Turns out the car was just dropping someone off and I was in the total clear!... I finish up, pull a Uie and park on the other side of the street and head off to into Sam's. Recycling... DONE!... no ticket and no disappointing looks from my father. All and all, it was an eventful day.

Joe Pesci? is that you?

The weather has been so humid here, I swear by the time I go back to the Koots, I'll be 1o pounds thinner.

Yesterday, Alicia and I went for a walk around Beacon Hill Park...I felt so sorry for my dog, she was dying by the end of it. The park was lovely, nothing has changed... its still squattersville.

As, I'm typing this blog I am watching Runaway Squad and I'm pretty sure the lead dude in the show is Joe Pesci.. or at least his long lost twin...

...Anyway back to bloggin'. Today I went to Lost Lake and Lost Lake Farm, thanks Coyne for showing me around... pretty sure I'll have some epic photos. True to Lisa form, I have to wait to get the pictures developed.. 'cause thats how I roll. I have a digital camera and thats all good for shits and giggles, but my 35 mil is film. Its like a right of passage using film, it teaches you patience and well, your using a dying breed.

Now, I'm having a quiet night... with back to back episodes of Intervention wooooot! There is something really wrong with watching someone waste away on national t.v, but for some sick reason, I can't get enough.

Blog in a bit

Harvey

Finally, over a year after watching Milk, I finally saw the documentary "The Times of Harvey Milk"

Amazing. Truly amazing.

There are a few events that happened in the world that I wish I was alive for. When Harvey Milk was supervisor in San Fran is one of those events. To be alive when there was actually a compassionate politician in power is something all of us would dream... He gave so much hope to soo many people, broke down the sexual orientation barrier and proved to the world that it didn't matter who you loved because we were all just people... we all have the same needs and wants as anybody else. If you can get your hands on this documentary, I would highly suggest it.. and if you can rent Milk do that too. Sean Penn proved himself once again, that he is brilliant!.

The Kid Quote of the Day

And once again my friends, theeee kid quote of the dayyyy!

Staring Evan Betts

Evan needs to work on his colours, when asking him what the colour of the green mug was he said "Blue" and when asking him what colour the white teapot was he said "Teapot"

Thus concludes todays Kids Quote.

thank you

Free Winona!!

Victoria First Day, feeling slightly less anxious then yesterday, wooo! I might be slightly less anxious but I'm slightly more bored!! good god.

It felt nice to sleep in my own bed, Terry and I's bed. Not the furnished apartment bed that can't seem to hold sheets, but THEEEE bed... nicely made by my mother with hospital corners and all. It also felt nice to cuddle with my little pup, my wee little dee.. my pointy eared hot water bottle that snores.

I've seemed to settle into the norm, get up, drink tea, eat cheerios and recline on the couch until something better comes along. Gotta love the big screen t.v and the lazy boy sofa. To my delight, I hit the afternoon movie marathon wave... Girl, Interrupted fallowed by Reality Bites... just me, my pup and Winona Ryder.

Whatever happened to Winona? she stole some shit, starred in a movie with Adam Sandler and then disappeared...gonzo. In the 80's and early 90's, she ruled! she starred in some of my favourite movies...Edward Scissorhands, BeetleJuice, Great Balls of Fire, How to Make an American Quilt, Mermaids and who can forget Little Women... Her movies are the reason to stay home sick from school.

One reason, I love Reality Bites is its soooo quintessential grunge. I love grunge .. the fusion of 70's polyester, Dickies, vintage t-shirts and PLAID... love plaid. Ever since I moved to the Koots, my plaid ownership has gone up 100%. Grunge is the best excuse to wear whatever you want and never to laundry. Watching this movie as I type this blog, I really feel the need to hit up the Sally Ann and not match for the rest of my life. Perfect!

from home to home

..So after a three hour break and a minor break down, I managed to get myself packed last night.
With a short Gravol induced sleep, I woke up with Terry and we parted ways, he to work and me to the airport. Its going to be an awesome month, but a rough one too... I've grown fond of the Koots.. I like that I can hear myself think and I like the fact that a traffic jam consists of two big rigs and thats it and I like the fact that its a clean slate there... no past demons, no judgement.. just pure growth.

I've litterally walked in the door of my parents house. I dropped my bag down, let Daisy out and went straight for the computer...blogs never stop in my mind. I made it on an earlier flight, I survived the douche dropping a cane on my head from the over head compartment and I made it through ferry traffic...here I am! Silence at mum and dads...mmmmmm silence!. Perfect nap time, I figure I've earned it... I've been up since 5:30 pacific time... so perhaps I shall sleep, and when I get up pick up the pieces and settle into coastal life.
